Ordinal Numbers Resource
When ordinal numbers are introduced, a “word wall” page may be added to student writing binders for use during writing workshops or at writing centers. During math, the page may be consulted for use during math journals. Journaling is a great way to get understand student thoughts about math and problem-solving.
I introduce ordinal numbers to children by explaining they are already experts. Hmmm? Yes, because they know who is first in line, last in line, and so on. Every day they notice this kind of thing. Then, I explain we are going to see those words on pocket chart cards and learn how to write numbers such as 1st and 2nd with a suffix. Ordinal numbers always have a suffix tacked onto the end; cardinal numbers do not. New big words for the children are always fun!
Students might apprentice themselves to the writing style of the book and write their own ordinal number stories. See also the Drummer Hoff post with another ordinal number printable PDF.

There is a table of contents for the 29 page PDF, and teacher talk information is included, as well.
