Free Thanksgiving Day Play
Thanksgiving Day is the story of the first Thanksgiving told in a very child friendly way. In this book, children in a classroom perform a play and each character tells what he or she is thankful for. One boy is the Mayflower with a clever prop. The costumes in the story were inspired by those made by students at New Lebanon Elementary School in Greenwich, Connecticut. The authors thank historical location curators and interpreters who helped provide research for the story. This is the typical Thanksgiving story told in schools. Did you know teachers can download free curriculum guides from Anne Rockwell for some of her books? That is a nice feature of her author site.
Inspired by the book, I wrote a little Thanksgiving play with more speaking parts. This is the Word Doc so teachers can add the names of the speakers in their own classroom, as well as edit the play: Thanksgiving Day Play Word Doc, FREE and here is the same play in a PDF: Thanksgiving Day Play free PDF If the PDF is selected, teachers can write the names of speakers on page one prior to making multiple copies.
